The KidzFirst Clinic is the ‘brainchild’
of Karen O’Connor, Consultant Speech & Language
Therapist. It has been developed as a Centre of Excellence
treating children with communication difficulties.It combines
speech & language therapy techniques with ‘up-to-
the minute’ sensory integrative and other techniques.
About The Author
Karen O’Connor is a specialist
speech & language therapist & director of the KidzFirst
Clinic – a Centre of Excellence treating children
with communication difficulties.
Karen qualified as a speech & language therapist, from
a London University in 1992. Since then Karen has worked
in many settings with a wide variety of clients. Karen has
worked in areas including child psychiatry; working with
children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Aspergers, Attention
Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, Pervasive Developmental Delay.
In senior and junior language units with children with Specific
Language Impairment In general clinics with children with
speech and language delay and disorder, stammering, voice
disorders. In specialist clinics with children with Cerebral
palsy, Spina bifida, Muscular dystrophy and Developmental
delay.
Over the years Karen has undergone considerable postgraduate
training. Karen is also very involved in training other
professionals both at national and international level.
Karen works in holistic manner with families, combining
‘up-to-the-minute’ techniques with more traditional
speech & language approaches. Karen implements an eclectic
approach to the treatment of each client enhancing each
child’s communication skills so that they can achieve
their full communication potential.
Karen has worked with many families over the past twelve
years and has developed this home-programme to help your
child to achieve his communication potential in the comfort
of his own home. |
